Obama owes a debt to the overwhelming percentage of African American voters who cast their vote for him. It is interesting that President Bush chose an African American for Secretary of Education, Secretary of H.U.D., and Secretary of State. Obama appears to have not even considered an African American for either of these positions. Nor does it appear that any of his legislative initiatives will have any direct benefit to African Americans. I believe that within six to nine months a sense of reality will sink in to the cranium of African American voters and disappointment will reign.

Two initiatives that would be really beneficial to African Americans in particular are school choice and the privatization of Social Security. Obama and his wife are spending nearly $30,000 per year/per child to send their two children to an exclusive private school, Sidwell Friends, but he is unwilling to let those who voted for him to have an opportunity to exercise school choice. He should strongly support school vouchers for those African Americans who want to get their children out of a bad public school system.

The privatization of Social Security would allow for African Americans to both own their retirement plan and to determine how they want to invest their money. As it currently exist, 535 members of Congress own the retirement plan of those who depend upon Social Security and can make changes in it  at their whim. Moreover, the Congress have already spent every penny that has been collected from both those who have paid into and those who are currently paying into Social Security and tell lies about there being a "trust fund".
